MAMMA MIA! The Movie

Mamma Mia! The Movie - Opened in Hungary, July 17th

Again, OH MY GOD!!! LOVED IT, every single second of it!!!
Well, I was FURIOUS, that they canceled my three favorite songs! I mean, of all those, WHY my three favorites??? "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "One Of Us" and "Under Attack". Actually, they cut "The Name Of The Game" as well, but I think that is just a deleted scene, because there was a perfect opportunity for it, I mean the story line wasn't changed THERE... And most of all, it's on the soundtrack CD as well!
BUT WHY??? And the thing that made me quite mad, was that other song they added: "When All Is Said And Done", wow, that song was just BORING!!!! And I believe that Pierce Brosnan had a wonderful voice, so I really want him to sing "Knowing Me, Knowing You"!
You know, I was thrilled that they chose Meryl Streep, because I just love her, and she's got two and more movies where she sings, and I knew she had a beautiful voice, other then being a wonderful actress, and let's say it out loud, NOT everyone can play Donna!!! So I loved her, she was hilarious and she made me cry and laugh at the same time. I love her. I believe, that she's the half planet's favorite actress, and she is definitely mine's as well!
And Pierce Brosnan, dear lord, he was fantastic!! He's a great actor, BEST James Bond ever, and who knew he could sing? And the chemistry between him and Meryl? Great, they are adorable on screen!
Here's something I wanted to get off my chest, Colin Firth should be alowed to make ONLY comedys. I thought I was gonna die laughing, he was so funny! When he falls from the boat, or everytime he said "spontaneous", and he could sing as well! He's voice was just like al of the other Harrys who played this role, so good choice! And they all said that Stellan Skarsgård can't sing, well, in confront of Dominic Cooper, who I have no idea what was doing in this movie, he was quite wonderful as well.
And about Dominic, I mean, maybe some girls thought he was hot, which I will never understand, but with all of these actors, couldn't they choose someone who can actually sing??? Point taken. The only thing I liked about him, was when he calls Sophie "Baby!", that was great, he's voice got all high and funny. That was cute!
In my previous blog, I said, and I quote: "without Carolanne Weidle and Cameron Blakely there is no MAMMA MIA!." And I rest my case, because, let's admit it, the movie has absolutely nothing to do with the stage act. The songs are mixed up, the funniest lines are not in it, and they cut things which makes Mamma Mia!... Mamma Mia!.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie, for the songs, the story, the actors, and I loved the stage act because it was unique. You know the musical "The Producers"? Well, the movie made from it was not a big success, because it was equal to the stage act, and since the movie was what the musical was I thought it was perfect! And maybe they didn't want to commit the same mistake! I like this movie, but not for wanting to be like the musical.
Of course it can't be, but at least it gives back the feeling of it. Anyway, this way they made a whole new summer BlockBuster which will have a great success, if it hadn't opened the same day as "The Dark Knight"! What IDIOT came up with that???
I loved Christine Baranski (Tanya), or Julie Walters (Rosie), great choice. And I liked Amanda Seyfried (Sophie), she's not the prettiest, but a great voice, she's got talent in this field!
Anyway, I think it is this year's "MUST SEE FILM", and I believe that every ABBA fan, or theater geek is gonna love it just the same, not to talk about all of these actors' fans all around the world!

Thank you for writer, Catherine Johnson , the producers, Judy Craymer, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and the director, Phyllipa Llyod, for making this happen! And of course, the actors as well.
Happy rest of the summer everyone,
Eszty
